HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Friday, June 20, 2008

and no I won't be giving my age away, suffice to say I'm on the downhill slope to the big 4*0.

The great thing about living in America is that although it was technically my birthday yesterday, with the time difference between Australia and here I got a day of reprieve and was able to spend another 24 hours being a year younger.

*the gorgeous sunflowers to the right were given to me by Luke (Shannon's little boy). Aren't they just divine

I had a fabulous day. I slept in this morning and was woken by hubby and the kids bringing me breakfast in bed. Hubby made his 'world famous' breakfast burritos, fresh coffee and mimosa's. There were presents (3 books Certain Girls: A Novel, Remember Me? and Shopaholic & Baby from my wishlist), cards, a bottle of champagne on ice, a little cake with a candle (that the babies helped me blow out) and 3 chick flicks (Devil Wears Prada, Sleepless in Seattle and Failure to Launch) to enjoy.

So I lay in bed from 8:30 until 2pm watching chick flicks, knitting, eating, sipping champagne and checking messages on my Blackberry. Oh and paging hubby on the intercom whenever I needed my glass topped off or made a few spills that needed to be cleaned ... like when I accidentally stood in the ice bucket getting out of bed to switch movies ha ha. It was a wonderfully relaxing day.

If you would like to see the other gifts that Randy and the kids have ordered for me (but didn't quite make it here in time) you can see them here, here, here and here. I'm the luckiest mummy and wife in the world.

Tonight Ran asked what I would like for dinner. I did consider going out but really I couldn't be bothered getting dressed up, I just wanted to relax at home. So I sent him off to the store for steak, corn and pre-made salad and he cooked me the yummiest dinner ever. Tonight once the babies are in bed I will be enjoying a box of Dibs and a glass of Bailey's. Yummy. What a perfect end to a perfect day ... oh and the husband doesn't know this yet but I think I'll be asking for a back and foot rub too ha ha.

you may notice in the pics below that I didn't get out of my pj's all day :)

Thank you so much to my wonderful friend Christy who also sent me books from my wishlist - The Undomestic Goddess, Shopaholic Ties the Knot, Shopaholic Takes Manhattan and Shopaholic & Sister. I'm so excited to have so many books to read.

My friend Jane sent me this tidbit of news that she'd read in USA Today: Apparently June 20th, 2008 had been declared the 'happiest day of the year'. Oh and she's so sweet that she posted an 'Ode to me' on her blog. Thanks Jane. Love ya hon.

I'd like to send out a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has twittered, emailed, phoned, posted cards, given me gifts, sent e-cards, posted messages on Facebook and MySpace and left comments on my blog already. I really appreciate it so so much, you've all helped to make this big day as wonderful as it has been.

I'd also like to send out a great big hug and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Erin who celebrated her birthday today too. Hope you had a fabulous day!

SOME THINGS I FINISHED TODAY

These are the final 6 preemie hats being sent to Robyn at Craft & Found today. I hope I've helped in warming the heads of 14 itty bitty babies.

Don't forget, if you are entering her contest you have only a few more days to get hats in the mail if they have any chance of making it there by July 1.

I have finished reading The Gatecrasher. It was a fabulous book. Definitely not your average chick-lit. The story centers around Fleur - a mother, a sophisticated woman, and a widow snaring gold digger who frequents funerals preying on the wealthy husbands of the deceased to fund her lavish lifestyle. Does her latest conquest really have money? Will something from her past turn her world upside down? You'll have to read the book to find out.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MY HUBBY who received his Gray Belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and his 2nd Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal today. Well done, we are very proud of you.
