THURSDAY THIRTEEN
Friday, July 11, 2008
Just like yesterday I have no time to do a real post so I'm 'borrowing' the Thursday Thirteen meme idea ... I'd join, but who am I kidding, I'd never be able to commit to doing this every week.
Today was just another one of those days. You know the ones. You run around like you've got ants in your pants but at the end of the day feel like you've accomplished absolutely nothing. Hate those days. Almost make you wish that you'd stayed curled up under those warm covers all day ... then I remember that I have kids and although the thought of babies jumping on my face and ripping hair out of my head sounds oh so appealing, it also means that I'd rather be up and facing the challenges of the day.
So here are 13 things about my day today.
1. Flynn gave me kisses. Not the open mouthed, slap his mouth onto my face and leave a giant wet patch kind of kiss that we are used to receiving around here but a real MWAH, sound effects and all. Awww, how sweet. I stood in a carpark at the car for about 10 minutes making him give me kiss after kiss after kiss, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke and he was in fact doing it. I drive my kids mad I think.
2. Nearly got eaten by a killer snake. Oh yes we did. Okay, maybe it wasn't so much a killer snake as it was something resembling a very small snake curled up in a hole in our yard, which mysteriously morphed into a big hairy creature with a tail that had quite possibly resembled a snake at some point during our hysterics. Thank goodness the animal rescue places that I called at nearly 10pm didn't come out, boy would I have been a little rosy in the cheeks.
3. Mr. Man finally said a new word today ... actually he said 3. First he said car when we asked him if he wanted to go for a ride. Then when Jay was walking down the hall tonight, he stood and listened at the door while Flynn's daddy doll was saying 'I love you Flynn', well Flynn said 'love you' right back to it. Awwwww.
4. I didn't get any projects completed today to blog about them. I started a cross-stitch project. I started a decorating project. I continued working on a knitting project. I didn't get any one of those projects finished. I really need to start focusing on one thing at a time.
5. We found out today that our FET (frozen embryo transfer) is still not being covered by our insurance. Oh when, oh when will they get the new contract in place ... or will they even get one in place? What if they don't? What will we do?
6. Hit the Aaron Brothers 'buy one frame get another for 1c' sale. I wait ever so patiently for this sale to happen. You'll be seeing our photo wall and a few other projects over the coming week.
7. Jay taught me how to use the tire pump for the stroller. Yep, pretty sad when a 12 year old can figure out that the attachment for the pump is hidden inside the cap.
8. Lost my military ID card. Bugger it all. Have to find it before tomorrow or they won't let me pick up Marisol's asthma medication. Why, oh why can I not remember to return it to my wallet after showing it. Ugh.
9. Lost my coupon organizer - had been missing for a week. Thank goodness I found it in the diaper bag where it mysteriously appeared .... I swear I checked the diaper bag 421 times and it was NOT in there. If I hadn't have found it I wouldn't have been able to save that whopping $3.28 at Michaels this afternoon :)
10. Okay, this didn't happen today but I'm so freaking excited I just have to share. 2 days ago our housing community finally had proper recycling bins delivered. We now have the giant blue wheelie bins. YES! YES! YES! You can only fit so much inside the tiny little boxes that had previously been given to us, which we are now using for Jay's can collection.
This is soooo not Thursday Thirteen, it's just been shortened to Thursday Ten after I got as far as No.10 before nearly passing out from exhaustion on my keyboard.

Awh, cute the kissing thing, and the "love you". They grow up so fast.

Yay for gigantic recyle bins! Ours is way to small.
I lost my ID card once and had to go though this whole big process of filing a lost ID with the MP's then going and waiting in line forever to get a new one! Hope ya find it!
Flynn is awesome! I love when the little ones talk!
I'm off to give blood! Have a great day!

Sounds like you had a busy and lovely day all rolled into one! I mean, what a kiss will make All Better! :)
Hope Friday works better for you!
